Copperhead Trailer

Company Background

There's no doubt. Biking gets into your blood. Riding a motorcycle comes as close to being free-as-the-wind and at-one-with-nature as you can get -- and still be attached to the earth.

Eric Householder got bitten by the bike bug as a youngster while riding behind his Dad and Mom's motorcycles through the rolling hills of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Last year he toured the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge Parkways and will be at Sturgis for the festivities. Over the years Eric has always enjoyed riding his motorcycles as well as many other kinds of outdoor all terrain vehicles. He even likes to ride his Honda Scooter in county parades for the Shriner's!

This close bond still exists today between Eric and his father, Dale. In fact, it evolved into a successful family business, Air-row Sheet Metal Company, Inc. (www.airrowsheetmetal.com) owned and operated by Eric and Dale for close to 20 years.

Creating Anything Out of Metal!

This unique father and son partnership resulted in a highly respected metal fabrication business that does work for commercial, industrial and residential customers in Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland. While the owners enjoy the day-to-day challenges of designing, fabricating and installing HVAC systems, institutional kitchens, and custom metal equipment, they also still share a passion for bikes and travel. They take pride in the fact that they can create anything out of metal in their technology driven fabrication facility which they doubled the size of recently. So when they couldn’t find a suitable open trailer to transport their bikes down south during the winter months, other than a funky utility trailer, they decided to create a state-of-the-art trailer and Copperhead Trailer LLC was born.

Bikers' Travel Options Never Better. Through many months of R&D, they realized that others who care about ease of loading, road safety and making an impression would also appreciate their design. They attended bike meets, Industry shows and talked to chop shop and dealers to find out what customers wanted. Then they extended their line of custom trailers. So after almost two years of R&D the first custom Copperhead Trailer™ rolled out of their shop near Washington, DC. And today the travel options for bikers have never been better.

Nothing Utility about This Rig

With exceptional features like its central beam stability, optional winch for loading big bikes, and sway control, the Copperhead Trailer makes it a breeze to load and transport even the heaviest touring bikes. Moreover, the patent-pending design of the open trailer has been engineered to pull like none other on the road based on its durable materials, Dexter Toreflex Axles offering independent suspension system and larger-than-standard wheels. “There is nothing utility about this rig; it has the same quality and look as a well engineered bike,” states Copperhead owner Eric Householder.

Sized to Your Hauling Needs. The Copperhead Trailer™ features a heavy load-bearing capacity with extra cargo capacity of as much as 1600 lbs. So with this rig, you don’t have to travel light. There are three models to fit a customer’s hauling needs – from two light bikes to two touring bikes and every combination in between. Call us and we’ll help you decide on the right model for your needs.

Designed Around our Needs

Eric and Dale wanted an open trailer that matched the look of Eric’s copper Expedition SUV. They liked the idea of showing off their bikes as they headed down the road. Notes Eric, “We definitely designed the Copperhead around our needs and our egos. Foremost was our concern for safety and convenience, but we also wanted to show off a little. It’s so cool to see people stare at our color-coordinated hauling system. Also we didn’t want a closed trailer because it blocks too much road visibility. We wanted to be able to see other traffic out of the rear view mirror and to be able to check on our bikes as we traveled to ensure they hadn’t shifted. Enclosed trailers block too much of the road and even the most aerodynamic creates some type of drag, both of which can be dangerous for the driver as well as other vehicles.”

A Powerful Personal Statement

The Copperhead Trailer™ has the best handling and the least drag of any trailer on the market and it looks sharp.” Each trailer is custom coordinated in highly durable powder coat paint colors and custom graphics to match the customer’s bike, vehicle or both. There is nothing like the road impact of a total custom system – a hot bike riding on a matching custom trailer being pulled by a class vehicle. With the all colors and graphics coordinated, this makes a powerful personal statement. It states volume about the style and seriousness of the owner.”
